It's hard to believe at it's already been a year since we got married, however, it's true. And a great year it has been!

This past weekend, MB and drove down to Hyde Park to celebrate. The trip had its ups and downs, but on the whole we had a nice time.

Pictures are here.

Wow! I can't believe it's already been a year since MB's grandmother's 90th birthday. This weekend was her 91st. Pictures here!

I also posted pictures from a hike we took up Stissing Mountain down in the Catskills with Aaron, Lisa Tim and Lindsay a few months ago.

Hiked the Bashbish Falls trail on Alander Mountain, MA with Chris, Tim, Lindsay and MB this weekend.

We were supposed to go last weekend but postponed. We were concerned that postponing would mean missing the peak of the fall colors, but as it turns out, we were still about a week early.

Pictures here.

Uncle Ronny's 60th birthday was this weekend.

Mary Beth and I went out to Liz's place in Boston (Waltham actually) on Friday night. Saturday the three of us had brunch with Ted (Mary Beth's brother) and Sue (Ted's girlfriend). Later that afternoon we went to Ronny's 60th which was a very nice event. We even dragged Liz along with us.

We spent Saturday night back at Liz's and then on Sunday we headed straight to Aaron and Lisa's place to celebrate Aaron's birthday.

We did so by going apple picking. After apple picking, Lisa prepared a huge thanksgiving / birthday feast in honor of the Canadian thanksgiving. Pictures here!

It was a whirlwind weekend loaded with lots of fun.

The C+CC Spring Picnic was this weekend. Mary Beth and I attended. It was a very nice and well organized event. The band was very good and the food was copious. Here are the pictures.

Mary Beth is my best friend, the girl I love, and the only person I could ever imagine spending the rest of my life with.

So... naturally, I am quite happy that we are now married!

As luck (and a little arm twisting) would have it, I forgot my camera the day of the wedding so I didn't take any pictures. Fortunately for us, Curt and Nancy of Austin Image just happened to be passing through so... they took a few of their own (click here). Also lucky for us that they are incredible photographers who captured the event and all its emotion.

Sure, sure... I know what your saying. "That's not possible!" Neil could never put his camera down for long enough to get married.

Well, as it turns out... for true love, I will do just about anything.

Coming soon are pictures of the honeymoon in HI.

The wedding is just around the corner now, 68 days to be specific. MB and I are getting very excited. Tonight we updated our wedding website (neilandmb.com) with all the latest details.

Nothing too special but a few weeks ago I posted the pictures of trying on the tuxes here. The first few pictures are from when Tim was in town before x-mass.

I also took the opportunity to fix a few things up around here. The random images (to the left) are working again as is the random image page linked to from below the images. The gallery has been upgraded and has a new "low-tech" look. Let me know if any features are missing/hard to find.

I still have to re-make the picture of the moment thing-a-mabober below but that is going to take some time. Perhaps next year.

Lastly, you may notice that many of the links from old news items don't link into the gallery correctly. That's because the new gallery is totally different. At some point soon I will go through all the old links and update them to point to the right places.

06.nov.2006

Ok folks, the gallery is almost fixed. I know several of you have been trying to upload new images with no luck. I have upgraded the gallery to the new version 2. You should now be able to upload your images without trouble.

There will be some major growing pains that come with this upgrade but I hope to get them worked out ASAP. One such growing pain is that the old directory structure is lost. I am working on getting it back so that old links will work (both internal and external) again.

I will keep you posted.

Here are the pictures from my walk around Troy during last weeks flood. They are from my Treo's camera phone so they are just so, so. You can see how messed up all the town docks got. The water in Troy rose around 12-15 feet.

Once again, the Hudson river behind our apartment is about to flood. It has reached the very edge of the parking lot and has about one foot more to go before it crests over and Quayside Apartments become Lakeside Apartments. Check out this USGS page to see the real time data.

It's always nice to see the family. And what better way to do it but at a birthday. Mom's cousin Carole turned 70 this month so in her honor, Jeff her son (my mom's second cousin [my... my... ahhh. yea??? cousin-ish]) invited a whole slew of people who have no idea how they are related (but are... really... they are) over to celebrate together. Ok, so I guess most of them knew how they are related but I really don't. Perhaps a pictorial family tree would be in order. Here are the pictures.

It's nice to get away sometimes! This past weekend MB and I went up to Lisa's family's cottage in Miskoka (Ontario, Canada). We were joined by Aaron (Lisa's husband) and one of Lisa friends from school, Eric.

While there we all took part in motor boating, water-skiing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, a bit of unintentional swimming, some darn good food and plenty of relaxing. Pictures of the weekend can be found here.

Lisa's parents were of corse perfect hosts. What a great weekend!

After five years, two months and a bunch of days MB and I are officially engaged!

This past weekend, MB and I traveled out to Colorado to relax and ski with Tim and Lindsay. On Friday, at 12,000 feet, atop Winter Park's highest peak, I proposed to Mary Beth. Luckily Tim was close-by to grab these pictures.

Last week Troy almost got washed away during the flooding. Check out this graph to see just how crazy it was. The parking lot for my building is right on the Hudson River. The river was literally inches from cresting over the curb and free flowing in all of Front Street.

Also! I found this which I just think is funny/interesting/unfortunate.

Not a whole lot new to report on. Just watching the Super Bowl commercials which inspired me to go out and find a few of my personal favorites.

At the top of my list is this VW remake of the famous song with Gene Kelly, Singing in the Rain.

After reading up a bit on this commercial, it was originally suspected that this man was the dancer behind the ad. Turns out he isn't but that's okay. Either way, I like both the commercial and the dance style.

[correction] as of 2/9 Elsewhere added this commercial to his website so... I guess he is the man!

Also near the top of my list is an ad not even seen here in the US as it is for Citroen. Check it out! For the record I also really like the song.

For all of you who are paying attention, you might have noticed that I posted a series of skiing videos in the gallery last week. MB and I took them while skiing at Mt. Snow. It was a really good day of skiing. Skiing I might add I thought we might never get to do seeing as how late the snow came this season.

Today I uploaded some pictures of my great aunt Jeanette (my mom's - mom's - sister). We (MB, my mom, and my uncle Denis) visited her at the end of December.

At some point I will point them all out, in the meantime check out the slideshow feature. It is now much, much better.

Tomorrow I am off to MB's in CT so there is no telling when my next post will be. I should be back in Troy around the 27th but I am not really sure.

Holly Cow! And that's all I have to say about that.

On Wednesday Mary Beth and I entertained 14 of our closest RPI friends at my River St. apartment. It was actually far less work and way more fun then I was thinking. Much thanks to MB, Mike, Aaron/Lisa and everyone else that helped out.

And a really big thanks for to everyone for standing still for 60 seconds (I know how hard must have been) so that I could take this picture.

Tonight I went to a Rusty Pipes concert. The Rusty Pipes are one of the two a capella groups on the RPI campus. They did a fantastic job and so did their guests, the Corgalls and the Colby 8. Check out those pics here.

Apart from Mr. Wizard (circa 1985ish) I don't have many TV heros... That is, apart from Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters. To an techie engineer, Mythbusters (a show on the discovery channel) is about as good as it gets. The two of them team up each week to either prove or disprove common myths. They do this of course in the most elaborate, informative and amusing way possible.

Well anyway, the reason I mention them is because tonight they payed a visit to RPI. They gave a two hour lecture / question and answer session that was pretty darn cool. They covered the good and bad of being a Mythbuster and went into some fun details. One of the highlights of the evening was watching a never before seen (not even by Jamie and Adam) out-take reel. It was hilarious!

So, as usual I attended this event with a purpose. This time it was primarily to take pictures for the Poly (RPI Newspaper). And also as usual I was approached by several individuals who wanted access to the images. So, if you are one of those individuals drop me an email and I can send you a link to a zip file containing the full resolution images. For everyone else, here is a link to all of the same images in my gallery.

I don't actually remember the name of the place I went for a hike last weekend with Aaron, Lisa, Liz and MB but I think it was the Steward Ski Aria / Sustainable Farm type thing.

In any event, we all went for a hike and here are the pictures from it. One of the interesting things we saw as we were leaving was a cow herding dog. This dog was single handedly (or pawedly as the case may be) moving a small heard of cattle from the upper fields to the lower fields. It was really cool to watch.

Aaron, Lisa, Jon, Joan, MB and I all hiked up Giant in the Adirondacks this past Saturday. The original plan was to hike up Big Slide, but when we got there, all the parking lots that were even remotely close were full so we changed things up a bit.

The hike up was challenging, fun and rewarding. It was an 8 mile out and back with 3,400+ feet of altitude gain. The weather was perfect and actually near the top there was a good amount of snow. Wahoo! Check out the pictures.

Today I added three new albums to the gallery.

On Friday, MB was honored with The Founders Award of Excellence at this year’s honors convocation. See the pictures here.

On Saturday I went home to NJ for a Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA) homecoming 5 year reunion. I had a really nice time but unfortunately, didn't take a single picture.

On Sunday I drove to MB's house in Oxford, CT. We took pictures of here house since her parents are moving to Florida at the end of the winter. I didn't post those pics but today on our way back to Troy, we stopped at a nearby park. There was a lake, several waterfalls and a covered bridge. Along with the fall foliage it was really gorgeous. You have to check out the pictures for yourself.

Lastly, I have finally taken and posted pictures of my apartment up here in Troy. I moved into it about three months ago but it has taken till now to get all settled in. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Yesterday in honor of Aaron's birthday (which is Tuesday) a bunch of us went apple picking. After which we returned to Aaron and Lisa's place where we caramelized some apples and then they fed us all lasagna. The pictures can be found in the Everything non-outdoorsy folder.

That evening, the ROC had its end the year BBQ at Prospect park. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to have a real nice time. See the pics here.

On Saturday, MB, Liz, Mike, Chris, Adam and I went and played mini golf at Hoffman's Playland. See the pictures here.

Lastly, on Saturday night Adam and I drove to Boston to see Dan Blake preform his senior recital. He did an awesome Job! Greg and his girlfriend Kristina met us at the concert. Afterwords, we went back to Greg's dorm to check the place out. See the pictures here.

Alright Mr. The Supreme Being (no relationship to Adam I am sure), here is an update. First, I have posted pictures from MB and my trip to the Western Caribbean. They can be found here. MB is working on giving all of the images titles that mean something. As soon as she is done I will post her updates.

Last week Adam came to visit. It was fun being with him again. I am sorry that I will be possibly leaving Troy just as he is coming back. Perhaps I will stick around and design a loft apartment in downtown Troy. That would be fun.

During Adam’s visit, we worked a lot on the IOCA webpage. The page doesn’t look all that much different than it did before but it is now completely database driven. This means that updates are now much easier and most tasks are fully automated. As usual, Adam was the brains behind the operation and I was the designer and motivator.

I was up in Troy, but now I am not. And I was home in NJ, but now I am not. And I was in CT with MB and I sill am. The last week has been very nice. I have been taking it easy and relaxing with friends and family. At the moment, I am in CT with MB and her family. We celebrated Christmas today, well more like last night and today, but same difference, and tomorrow we are going to take it easy, relax and digest all of the wonderful food that Mrs. Mulrane made.

Things hear seem so “normal” or at least compared to my home but then, I think just about anything would.

I am looking forward to being back in Troy with everyone and especially doing tons of skiing.

See you all soon and look here for some good pics of the sanity that is the Mulranes.

Hooray! We went skiing today in the Blizzard of 2003!!! Iduno where they get off calling it that seeing as how we got a foot today and like 5 feet in a storm earlier this year (think last winter after x-mass) but… it’s snow!!! and I couldn’t be happier. By the way, the “they” was some local news channel and I know what you are thinking, what about the south? Well I just got off the phone with my bro in NJ and he claims there is only a foot. Conclusion: this is NOT blizzard 2003!

So the skiing today at Mt. Snow was nice. A good first time on skies for the season for sure. Had the boards tuned over lunch which really made the difference. It snowed all day and was like 15 deg with 60 mph wind. Wasn’t too cold but it was bitter at times.

We are going again tomorrow and I might try and get some pics too. We shall see.

I spent 7.5 hours talking to Burt Swersey today (my advisor for the semester). That's all I have to say about that.

I also spent the evening with Mark S. which was really nice. We haven’t had a chance to hang out in a while and it is always fun to catch up on the craziness that is our lives... well, the craziness that is his life anyway.

There is so much new news that I think I am going to put most of it into a journal entry instead.

The big news is that I just checked my server statistics log and I am very pleased. Over the last few months the number of visitors has gone up from an average of 25 a day (Dec 2002) to 185 a day (Oct 2003). Since December of 2002 ngray.com has had 37,546 visitors and over 1,273,389 hits. 11,212 of those visitors were unique. Looking back over the top ip addresses, it looks as though about 25 "regulars" visit ngray.com every day. Kinda cool!

In true Halloween spirit we threw a costumes required pot luck dinner this evening. Over 30 people showed up to join in the festivities.

All the excitement really began when "Jeff", a PDI student showed up. Can you guess who jeff really is?

More pictures here. Special thanks to Rob C., Aaron and Jon C. for helping to take pictures.

I went home to NJ for the weekend to see a show that Keith (my brother) is in called The Legend of Robin Hood. It was really good and rather funny. Overall a very nicely done piece. As is expected, I took lots of pictures.

Wow... Well, judging buy the HUGE e-mail response of ZERO to that last post, I have come to a second conclusion.

No one ever visits my site. Ohh well [shrug].

Late Addition:
ngray.com's new look is officially launched today. I still have some tweaking to do and I haven’t even begun working on the gallery but... Most things look nicer then they used to.

So... I spent the last hour or so looking through people's weblogs and came to a conclusion. Everyone posts more then me, but Susan posts more than anyone.

I still could use some more feedback on the new site design so if you are bothering to read this, stop, click here and send me an email about what you see.

Today is Thanksgiving! Well, at least if you are Canadian as Lisa is. Aaron and Lisa had some people over including Lisa’s mom and dad for a really nice dinner. They broke out the formal dinnerware and all. I took some pictures but none came out all that well with the exception this one so that will have to do.

Saturday we celebrated Aaron’s birthday by going bowling and then having a dinner and games night back at his place.

Sunday I went SCUBA diving up in VT at Big Blue Quarry with Mike C., Jon C., a guy named Bret from the SCUBA Club and Amber (Jon’s girlfriend). It was an excellent two very cold dives. Jon brought his Cannon Elf and an underwater case. His webpage has a ton of awesome underwater pictures and movies.

I could go on and on about how wonderful Fall Lake George was this weekend, but I won’t, cause I am lazy. But here are links to my pictures and everyone else’s.

Also, here is a link to Adam’s Journal entry about FLG which is a good resource.

Today was Greg’s 21st birthday and Liz made him two cakes to have at the ROC meeting. Everyone partook and it was a good time. No surprise that we didn’t even bother trying to corrupt him this evening.

I know that I haven’t updated the news page in a while and that is totally my bad. I have a good excuse though. That cold that I was talking about in my last entry (the on the 14th) that had already been around for a week was still hanging around until yesterday. I am finally feeling better though and am looking forward to getting back into both the outdoors and my work.

In the news this week is FALL LAKE GEORGE 2003 which is this coming weekend. MB is going to be back in town and I can't wait! There are already 175 people signed up and paid and a ton of activities already planed. Dave is doing a really nice job and I think things might go off without a hitch again this year (knock on wood).

I got back to Troy at about 9:00pm tonight. I spent this weekend in the middle of Pennsylvania with my family racing my dad’s Hydroplane. I took a few pictures and my mom took a few too. I will post them all when I get a chance.

I went to Borders today to get the new Harry Potter book (the Order of the Phoenix) on CD. It spans 23 disks! I spent most of the afternoon fighting with Adam’s Mac trying to get it to rip the disks to mp3 so I could stick it on my iPod. After realizing that some of the CDs were marked as compilations and others weren’t I finally finished and now can't wait to start listening.
